We found Boldify to work well, although we found the powder to stick together a little too much. The thickness actually became a little bit of an issue. This product may be better for people with very serious thinning hair.

TOPPIK is one of the leading brands for hair thickening powders and root touch-up. They use safe ingredients and offer a variety of products that can work for different issues. While our reviewers felt this was a great product to recommend, our hair stylists insisted TOPPIK is much better used for root touch up than it is for hair thickening. They claimed it looked too unnatural to use for anything else than a small root touch up. So while effective, it’s best to only use a small amount of TOPPIK.

After we all had a good laugh at the suggestive-looking hair fibers on the packaging of Aliver’s Hair Fibers, we tried the product out and we were pleasantly surprised. It adhered to the hair quite well, and looked very natural. Unfortunately, we weren’t as excited at the long list of ingredients that go into the product, some which seem more harmful than we’d like.

Specifically marketed to men, we found Monster’s Black Puff suitable for both men and women. It’s thinner powder doesn’t clump together and includes a nice list of natural ingredients that can condition your hair as you use the powder. We’d pop this product to the top if it had a better packaging for distribution on the hair. The spongy top makes it hard to evenly distribute on the hair. We found Liaison’s Volume Fiber a much better product for distribution and natural look.

While we feel we recommended some great products to help cover up that thinning hairline, we believe Liaison's product was the top choice. We wanted to talk further with our investigative reporter Stephanie Marianne who helped create the rankings list and how Liaison’s Volume Fiber Hair Thickening Powder worked for her.
